About Us
Who is Alpha Omega Home Inspection?
Alpha Omega Home Inspection is a family-owned business. We started the business in hopes of being a valuable resource to home buyers, sellers, contractors, builders, realtors and anyone associated with owning a home. Through personal experience or professional experience we have identified the need for unbiased and honest evaluations of homes in an effort to bring the best service to those involved. In reality, everyone makes mistakes and we are not infallible. This is why we strive to keep up with knowledge, resources and current market trends. We want to ensure we are most prepared and equipped to help with your needs.
Since we are a family-owned/operated business, we have few staff. In fact, the "we" in Alpha Omega Home Inspection consists of Gary and Bri Lee (with the intent for any of our interested friends and family to join our staff when the opportunity arises). We are a family-oriented husband and wife, blended with five children and one grandchild! People often tell us we don't look old enough, but we sure feel it at times. Family is the primary reason we started the business, outside of our passion to help others. We enjoy the opportunity to set our schedules to align with our ability to spend time with our children while we can.
"I'm the primary point of contact in the office as well as in the field. I'm 'The Dad' for your walkthrough, the primary inspector for your home inspection, the designer/consultant for your project and any other service we offer. My background is diverse but has always been in an area of customer service. Careers in law enforcement, code enforcement and building codes led to the experience he has today. I've been equipped with an attention to detail, a constant thirst for knowledge, the desire to do what is right (and sometimes unpopular), and a humbleness to know when "I don't know" and there is a need to learn more. One of my passions is equipping others with any skill I possess should they desire to learn. While I know a lot, I don't pretend I know it all. I find there is an opportunity to learn from the people I interact just as much as I'm able to pass it on to them."
What makes us "qualified" to do what we do?
Believe it or not, the State of Kansas (which is where we are based) does not have a requirement of individuals for home inspector certifications. The same applies for Missouri and many of the states surrounding Kansas. The requirement for home inspectors to be certified in Kansas was removed as of July 1, 2013. While we appreciate the leniency in paying fees for applications and annual dues, this can also be worrisome. In truth, anyone can call themselves a "home inspector" and make their attempt at earning a living doing so. However, we believe those individuals should be pretty easily identifiable to people in the industry. It's not easy to "fake it until you make it" in a market involving home purchases, remodels, construction, etc.
So how are we any different? Well, we don't go out of our way to prove to you we know what we are doing and are deserving of the title, but we do go out of our way to make sure you get the most out of using us for your needs. The phrase "you get what you pay for" is not applicable here! Often times, our service-to-cost ratio is very unbalanced, in your favor! We recognize it, and we are okay with it. It's just what we do. Sure, we could be part of paid memberships to organizations such as International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), Kansas Association of Real Estate Inspectors (KAREI) and a whole host of others...but, honestly we have a great network of resources without all the additional unnecessary fees associate with those memberships. They are great organizations, but we don't feel the need to be a part of them at this time.
As mentioned above, Gary's background is in law enforcement (as a law enforcement officer, trainer, firearms instructor and more), code enforcement (don't worry he's not going to tell you to cut your grass), building codes inspector and plans examiner. Though the former two may not seem as relevant as the latter, he has taken these experiences and combined them into the skillset he possesses today. Many hours of learning, testing, obtaining certifications and demonstrating competence in these fields brought forth the qualifications for what we do. While not all are current, since most require continuing credit hours and being in the associated profession, some of his certifications include the following (what he could remember at the time of editing):
Law Enforcement Officer
Glock Armorer
T.A.S.E.R. Instructor
American Heart Association CPR Instructor
